Steve Jobs Resigned As CEO From Apple

One of the most legendary businessmen in American history, Apple CEO and co-founder Steve Jobs resigned today as chief executive officer from Apple. The place at the top will be taken by Steve Job’s right hand executive Tim Cook, previously Apple’s chief operating officer.

Today, in a note to Apple’s board members and the Apple community Jobs said that he is no longer up to the job of CEO. “I have always said if there ever came a day when I could no longer meet my duties and expectations as Apple’s CEO, I would be the first to let you know. Unfortunately, that day has come,” Jobs said.

Jobs has been suffering from a lot of health problems and took periodic leaves of absence 3 times from the company in recent years due to the same.
In January 2009, Jobs announced that he was taking an indefinite medical leave as he was suffering from hormone imbalance and handed over his responsibilities to Cook. In April 2009, Jobs underwent liver transplant surgery and in August 2004, he underwent surgery to treat rare form of pancreatic cancer and it took him 2 months to come back in both cases.

Tim Cook, who will step up for the new responsibility, joined Apple in 1998 and was promoted to COO in 2004. He has been a very responsible executive, heading up shareholders meetings and earning calls with Wall Street investors and acting as a figurehead at product introductions.

Mentioning future Steve said that “Apple’s brightest and most innovative days are ahead of it,” and he looks forward to contribute as Apple’s chairman of the board and also as an Apple employee if the board allows it showing the enthusiasm he has.

Steve Jobs has been a role model for a lot of people and Apple has been the ruler of the market. Without Steve Jobs, how lonely Apple will feel? Let’s see, shares has already gone down with this news. All the best for your future Steve.
